Salomon Aflalo z"l

A Great Leader of French Jewry (1938-2011)

Salomon Aflalo z"l
These are our first Tishrei holidays without our friend Salomon Aflalo. He left us several months ago, on Yom Ha'atzmaut, and he is sorely missed by his family as well as the worldwide family of Keren Hayesod.
Salomon was born in Morocco in 1938. He grew up in the Jewish Scouts movement, which was to shape his entire life. In 1962, he settled in Nice with his wife, Bertha, who would give him four children.
Salomon's outstanding community career was marked by boundless devotion to Jewish and Zionist causes. In the course of his long tenure as Regional Director of the AUJF (the partnership between KH and the Fonds Social Juif Unifié) as well as of the FSJU (the Unified Jewish Social Fund), he was loved and appreciated by all for his leadership abilities and skill in bringing together and unifying people. Salomon trained individuals who are currently leaders of the French Jewish community, and his commitment to Israel knew no limits. His passing leaves a huge void in the KH world, and we think of him with affection and longing in this holiday season, which he loved so much.
May his memory be blessed.
